Report an animal in need
The streets of Thailand are home to millions of “soi” (street) dogs and cats. While it may be unusual to see stray animals in your home country, these animals are part of the fabric of Thai society. Many of them have been born into a life on the streets or the beach and it is the only life they have ever known. Removing the freedom of happy or healthy animals by placing them in a shelter causes them undue stress and, while nothing can beat a real home, it is simply not possible to rehome every street dog and cat when we already have hundreds of shelter animals already waiting for homes.
It is widely agreed that the only truly effective and humane method of reducing the number of street dogs and cats is through mass spay/neuter programmes. The island of Phuket where we are based has a large network of people who feed the soi dogs and cats in their communities. Soi Dog Foundation provides many of these people with a regular supply of food, but we do not have the resources to collect and provide sanctuary for every stray animal on the island, nor is it in the animals' best interests to do so.
We would therefore kindly ask that you only call our shelter about animals that need to be spayed/neutered, or those that require medical attention.
Sadly, our phone line is always busy and calling about healthy, neutered street animals that have a regular food source will delay help getting to those that need it most.
Thank you for caring!
Soi Dog Foundation hospital opening hours are 8:00am to 11:00pm, seven days a week.

If we refer you to a local vet clinic in Phuket, it will be one of the clinics listed below. Note that the clinic will not admit any animal until Soi Dog has given them approval to do so, meaning it is necessary that you contact us before you take the animal to the clinic.
If you discover an animal outside of our normal hospital opening hours, and the animal is not in immediate danger, please wait until the next working day to call Soi Dog and report the animal.

Soi Dog Foundation does not operate a shelter in Bangkok and only has a small clinic for spay/neuter surgeries. We are limited in the medical treatment we can provide in Bangkok but if you see a dog or cat in need of assistance, please call 061 172 1106 or send an email with photographs, location details and your contact number to bkkclinic@soidog.org
Soi Dog Bangkok does not have the resources to provide medical treatment outside of normal clinic hours (Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm) but we can put you in touch with a pet taxi service and provide details of the nearest vet.
Request a spay/neuter
Soi Dog makes every effort to neuter as many animals as possible. However, due to extremely high demand for our services, we manage requests on a priority basis focusing on free-roaming animals, especially females in heat or pregnant.
Please note that submitting a spay/neuter request does not guarantee that an animal will be reached immediately.
Soi Dog Foundation categorises free roaming dogs and cats as follows:
- An owned dog or cat - has an owner, who takes full responsibility for the animal (SDF help to sterilise pets that belong to people who cannot otherwise afford sterilisation of their pets)
- A community dog or cat - has at least one feeder (often more)
- A stray or feral dog or cat - does not rely on humans for food/ survival (these animals do not let people approach them)
